The PCR Test is the most widely accepted method of COVID-19 testing for travel.


2. COVID-19 RT-PCR Nasopharyngeal Swab Test + Serum Antibody Test

Results available within 24 – 48 hours

Price: $329 (total price, no additional taxes or lab fees will be charged)

Travellers to China require both a RT-PCR COVID-19 Test and a COVID-19 Antibody Test.

After you visit our clinic for your RT-PCR COVID-19 Test, you will be provided a signed lab requisition for the COVID-19 Antibody (IgM, IgG, IgA) test that can be taken to a nearby Lifelabs Clinic. Lifelabs is a ISO 15189 Accredited Laboratory.

These tests are for asymptomatic people only for the purpose of travel or employment. If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, or have been in close contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19 in the last 14 days, please get tested at your local testing centre or contact your Public Health Unit for screening.

  • When do I need to get my PCR test for travel?+

    Your destination country will specify what is required for entry including the testing window of time needed for your arrival. Travel requirements are changing all the time and it is the travelers responsibility to check the requirements needed for the destination.

  • What do I need to bring to my appointment?

    You need one piece of government issued ID (Driver’s License, Passport, NEXUS Card) and your Provincial Health Card

  • What type of COVID-19 test do you offer?

    We provide a PCR test, which is the most widely accepted method of COVID-19 testing for travel. It is a type of nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT) also known as the RT-PCR test which is considered the gold standard for COVID-19 testing. The specimen is collected via nasal swab. Our PCR tests are approved by Canadian health authorities and are recognized by all airlines and countries. They are performed by LifeLabs, an ISO 15189 Accredited Laboratory.

  • Do you provide certificates for countries such as Japan and Hong Kong that require them?

    Yes, our medical staff will provide any necessary certificates or documentation required for an additional fee of $50.

  • How do I get my results?

    Your lab test results will be sent to you by email to the email address you provide when booking your test with our clinic. You will receive your test results within 24 – 48 hours of your appointment.

    Please note that different countries require different certifications. Please contact your airline to confirm if you need a special certificate for your destination. Our clinic will provide the additional paperwork required (for an additional fee), along with your lab results. For general international travel information you can check this website, however it is recommended that you contact your airline for the most up-to-date travel requirements.

  • Is my test covered by B.C. MSP?

    Unfortunately the B.C. MSP plan will not cover the cost of testing for asymptomatic individuals, for any purpose including travel and occupational requirements.

  • What if I test positive for COVID-19?+

    If you test positive after the COVID-19 PCR test you will be advised to self-isolate and contact your healthcare provider for further direction. As well, someone from your local Public Health Unit will call you to give further instruction.

  • What if I need to cancel my appointment?

    We understand that sometimes travel plans can change quickly. If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment you can do so at least 24 hours before your appointment time. This allows us to release your reserved spot for another customer. You will be given a refund of your fee within 48 hours, less an administration fee. No-show appointments are not refunded.
